Thank god for people who recorded TV broadcasts onto their collection of VHS tapes in the 1980s and then never taped over them with their own boring home movies or whatever. Thanks to that practice, a friend sent us this gem around the time when Tommy was building the preshow for Tron: Legacy, and WOW. It kills.
At Disneyland’s 30th anniversary party, one of the producers noticed that the Pointer Sister’s hit, “Neutron Dance” sounded suspiciously like a new Tron dance and decided to run with that theme. The Pointer Sisters didn’t change the lyrics around to talk about being programs or users, but there are a ton of Tron characters dancing around them who seem very, very excited to finally be doing a new dance instead of the same old Tron dance they’d been stuck with for centuries.
And, of course, Pete’s Dragon shows up at the end, too, just because he loves a good party.
No I just need to find a video of ELO playing the Electric Light Parade and my Disneyland collection will be complete.
