When the insane Possession screened in Philadelphia last month, it was preceded by some locally-produced shorts. One of them was a piece by Philly filmmaker Eric Bresler called Horrors, a found-footage opus comprised of clips from PSAs and news reports from the '80s and '90s, connected by some amazing non-sequiturs. It's hilarious (and slightly NSFW), but it's also a great mosaic of the scare tactics that were shoved down our throats as kids. Hours of my public school education were pissed away on a teacher trying to figure out a top-loading VCR and eventually showing us the dangers of child molesters, unsafe sex and horror movies. And yes, in case you were wondering, these were ridiculous then as well. If you're under 30, you probably haven't seen any of this footage before. Enjoy.
