"I think that the third season of Game of Thrones is going to be really-"
"Don't spoil it!"
Everything's a spoiler these days. Recently some people complained on Twitter that Alice Eve's Star Trek Into Darkness character - a lead character in the fillm - was revealed to be Carol Marcus. Because now something as simple as the character's name is a major spoiler.
Spoilerphobia is rampant, and it's annoying. It's especially annoying in a world where people time shift their TV shows; there's no longer that 'Who shot JR?' communal discussion, because you must tip-toe around the guy who is waiting to watch Walking Dead on DVD or who has ten episodes piled up on his DVR. Our national discourse is being hijacked by the lazy.
