The trailer for Edgar Wright's much anticipated The World's End is here, and it looks just as good as we hoped and expected.
Wright's going full-on science fiction, offering us a small town that has been taken over by invading aliens. Given the quaintness of the town and mob-like nature of the possessed people, it's an almost perfect combination of the threats found in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Except this time there's a giant monster, too. So, step up.
Pegg plays an alcoholic who wants to recapture the glory days of his youth by gathering all his decidedly lame and non-alcoholic grown up friends for an epic pub crawl back in their hometown. When they get there, a bunch of aliens give Pegg a much needed intervention, while maybe the other four guys learn to live a little? Nick Frost plays the straight man for once, so that should be interesting.
And with Paddy Considine and Martin Freeman along for the crawl (I'm still not on the Eddie Marsan train yet), The World's End has very little chance of being awful. I can't wait to see it.
Unfortunately, The World's End doesn't come out until August 23. That's way too far away.
