A couple of weeks ago I told you that there was a role for William Shatner in Star Trek 3, the film that will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the franchise. After some hemming and hawing Shatner revealed that JJ Abrams, whose Bad Robot is producing the film, had contacted him. Some people had questioned the veracity of my scoop, but I have to assume that shut them up.
Let me give them something else to question. In the time since then I have been able to nail down more information about Star Trek 3 and about Shatner's scene in particular. My sources are now telling me that not only will Shatner be in the movie, his scene will have him meeting Chris Pine. Also in that scene: Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy. But if my sources are steering me correct this won't be original timeline Spock - it'll be future alt-timeline Kirk and Spock. Basically the scene will have Kirk and Spock interacting with their future selves.
So... more time travel in Star Trek 3? Or is this going to be a Star Trek: Enterprise historical holodeck type situation? Weigh in below.
