Ron Howard's directing an adaptation of Nathaniel Philbrick's In The Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex - known, in other words, as the real story that inspired Moby Dick. If you've never read Moby Dick, well, you really should, but also here's the summary of the film, a sentence that sent chills up and down my back:
Based on the 1820 event, a whaling ship is preyed upon by a sperm whale, stranding its crew at sea for 90 days, thousands of miles from home.
The movie (out March 13) stars Cillian Murphy and Chris Hemsworth, both of whom look perfectly at home with their seaworthy hair and scarves and shit. If the trailer doesn't scare you senseless, you are made of stronger stuff than I, but surely this poster will give you the wiggins:
