We’re way past the point where you can just put out a regular old zombie movie now. You have to have some kind of hook or gimmick. Sometimes the zombies fall in love, for instance, or maybe the zombies get to hang out with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I’m not 100% sure how to explain the gimmick in The Girl with All the Gifts, but it definitely looks original. You can have a look for yourself by watching the film’s first trailer:
Based on the novel by M.R. Carey, The Girl with All the Gifts looks intense and inviting at the same time. Even if it didn’t have that great cast (including Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, and Paddy Considine), actress Sennia Nanua and the film’s highly unique world would make it a cool curiosity.
I would actually prefer to not see another trailer or read anything more about this one. It seems like a movie best enjoyed as cold as possible. Whenever I even get the chance, that is. The film comes out in the UK September 23 but currently has no American release date.
