Here is what I can tell you about Passengers: the script was a great read, it stars two of the most likable actors in Hollywood, Michael Sheen plays a robot bartender in it (yes, really), and - because the sun can't shine all the time - it's directed by the guy who made The Imitation Game.
Nevertheless, I am looking forward to Passengers (as well as the tough conversations I suspect we'll be having after it arrives), and today I was pleased to see two new stills from Morten Tyldum's film pop up over at Entertainment Weekly.
Here's what they look like:
Not much to be gleaned from these photos - it's really just Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt looking through a slot, and then at one another - so, luckily, EW's got a brief interview with the director which I'm sure we can pull a few entertaining-yet-informative quotes from.
"Every generation has its love story. I feel like this is it."
"I honestly couldn’t ask for a better cast. They’re so great together, and both of them are so hard-working."
"It was a very technical film with big sets and a lot of effects but at the same time, it’s a character drama."
OK, so, not much to be gleaned from these money quotes, either (and to be fair, these are precisely the sort of pulse-pounding sound bites I'd expect from the director of The Imitation Game). But new stills means we're probably not too far away from a trailer, and that's when I'm guessing we'll really start to get excited about Passengers.
Passengers opens on December 21st, which is a bold gamble on its part.
