Drew Goddard Might ALSO Direct DEADPOOL 2

Still not directing DEADPOOL 2: Quentin Tarantino.

Earlier today, we were told that John Wick director David Leitch is the frontrunner to direct Fox's Deadpool 2, and there was much rejoicing. What an inspired, excellent choice! Certainly that suggestion wasn't going to be topped any time soon!

Deadline’s sources insist that no offer for the Deadpool 2 gig has been made to anyone. Some published reports today John Wick‘s David Leitch was in the driver’s seat; he is in the mix, but so are The Martian scribe Drew Goddard and TV helmer Magnus Martens (Luke Cage, Banshee), among others.

Drew Goddard, did you say? Well, thanks a lot, Deadline. Now we don't know what to think.

But y'know what? Let's kick this around a bit. On the one hand, Drew Goddard has more than acquitted himself as a dude who does genre stuff very well (Cabin In The Woods, The Martian, a really great show you're not watching right now called The Good Place). On the other hand, David Leitch co-directed John Wick, rendering his action bonafides virtually unimpeachable. Neither of these guys have a tremendous number of directing credits to their name, but both are very beloved by the film geek community. Magnus Martens I am almost totally unfamiliar with. Sorry, Magnus Martens.

I'm calling this a draw for now, but I'll let you guys argue it over in the comments below. Were it down to these three folks, who would you like to see tackle Deadpool 2?
