Drafthouse Recommends: MANCHESTER BY THE SEA

If you haven’t heard yet, this is a movie you don’t want to miss.

We’ve been running stories about Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea all week for a reason. It’s a movie that deserves some attention. Now it’s getting a bit more by joining the vaulted Drafthouse Recommends ranks:

After the death of his older brother Joe (Kyle Chandler), Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck) is shocked to learn that Joe has made him sole guardian of his teenage nephew, Patrick (Lucas Hedges). Reluctantly, Lee returns to Manchester-by-the-Sea to care for Patrick and is forced to deal with a past that separated him from his wife Randi (Michelle Williams) and the community where he was born and raised.

With the help of an outstanding cast, Lonergan has crafted a tension-filled tale that deftly eschews sentimentality in favor of penetrating emotional insight and deeply affecting human relationships.

We love this film so much, we've nominated it for several Alamo Victory Awards, which is our new way of celebrating the best movies of the year. And since the winners will be selected by Victory members, make sure you catch MANCHESTER BY THE SEA so you can cast an informed vote.
