According to an exclusive report at Mashable, JJ Abrams has signed Outlander director Anna Foerster to direct Lou, a forthcoming thriller to be released by Bad Robot.
The screenplay, by Maggie McGowan Cohn, landed on the 2015 Black List. Slashfilm quotes the Black List with the following description of the script:
"An elderly woman who hacks out a rough existence on a remote island is forced to help her dimwitted neighbor rescue her daughter from her ex who has kidnapped her and run off into the woods."
Well, that's certainly an interesting logline. And Foerster is certainly an interesting choice for director: she's probably best known for her work on Outlander (which, full disclosure, I've never seen; that said, our own Meredith Borders speaks very highly of it and of course Meredith is always right, so I'm taking her word for it), but she also helmed Underworld: Blood Wars (full disclosure: I've not seen Underworld: Blood Wars, either, and neither has Meredith, so who knows what to think), and has a number of other encouraging tech credits to her name.
As for Lou: I'm into that logline and curious to know more. We'll keep you informed on this one's progress as updates roll in. In the meantime: any of you read Cohn's script?
