Here we have the first trailer for The House, a new comedy in which Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler play two parents who, upon realizing they can't afford their daughter's college tuition, decide to do something we've all daydreamed about doing: they open up their very own wildly illegal underground casino.
My frank assessment of this trailer is as follows: Ferrell and Poehler seem to be coasting, but Jason Mantzoukas appears to be on fire in this thing, and that's more than enough for me to show up on opening weekend. That dude's great on The League and frequently brilliant on the How Did This Get Made? podcast, and I'm kinda thrilled to see him being given his moment to shine on the big screen. Is this his most substantial feature role yet? I'm sure one of you Mantzoukas scholars will let me know if it's not.
Anyway, yeah, The House looks alright. Would watch, especially for Mantzoukas. It opens on June 30th.
