Just because this was a no-brainer doesn't mean it's not cause to celebrate. We learned today that The CW's midseason series Riverdale - from CW king Greg Berlanti and Archie Comics king Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa - has been renewed for a second season.
Riverdale's ratings have been modest but promising, especially for The CW, and reviews have been super positive (especially here). And, let's be honest, a show has to be decrepit for The CW to cancel it. God bless 'em, Supernatural's on its 12th season.
Here's my hope: that they keep the 13-episode order for the second season. (They haven't yet announced that detail.) Too often, freshman series get a lot of acclaim before their episode order is ballooned in future seasons, diluting the impact and adding a lot of fat.
But either way: this is good. It's so good.
