In a new interview with ABC News, The Last Jedi star Mark Hamill has some intriguing things to say about where things may be going for Luke Skywalker in Rian Johnson's film ... like the possibility that Luke Skywalker may turn to the Dark Side.
Here's the interview, if you'd like to see the whole thing:
In addition to allowing that it's "possible" Luke will turn away from the Light, Hamill also says that reading Johnson's script for the film was a "shocking" experience (as quoted by The Playlist):
“There’s a difference between teaser and a trailer. A teaser is supposed to show you dynamic images that heighten your awareness and make you want to see the trailer, but avoid all story points if at all possible. (But) I think that’s the only story point that’s in the teaser, which is Luke saying it’s time for the Jedi to end…
It was as shocking to me to read what Rian Johnson had written as I’m sure it will be for the audience.”
What do we think about all this? Well, for one thing, Hamill saying that it's "possible" Luke may turn to the Dark Side seems more like Hamill being intentionally ambiguous than anything else, but of course it's possible. One does wonder, however, what might've been so "shocking" about Johnson's script; Luke Skywalker becoming the Big Bad would certainly qualify.
What do you guys think of all this? Think Hamill's just playing coy? Think Luke might legit turn away from the Light Side? Sound off in the comments below.
