For a while there, it seemed as though Liam Neeson was taking a break from the old man action business. But now that break is over. Already the guy has The Commuter coming soon as well as his remake of In Order of Disappearance (now named Hard Powder, of course).
But that’s not enough. So now we have a new one: Retribution, a remake of a Spanish film called El Desconocido. It’ plot, if you can handle it, is about a dude in his car with his family. He learns that the car has been bombed and if he doesn’t Die Hard with a Vengeance for the bad guy, that bomb is going off. Tricky situation! Bet ol’ Neeson gets to be on the phone a lot!
This does not have a director yet, but it is supposed to start filming in the fall with a script from Chris Salmanpour and Andrew Baldwin. And of course, Jaume Collet-Sera will help produce. I mean, who else?
Still, I’m fine with these movies. Some are better than others, but they’re all more or less entertaining. I certainly don’t have it in me to kick a Liam Neeson Speed remake out of bed. Do you?
