ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Casts Important Female Role

No, we don’t know what it is yet.

You probably don’t know Hannah John-Kamen from Black Mirror, Game of Thrones or The Force Awakens, but you'll know her once she features more prominently in the Tomb Raider reboot and Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One. Also see: Marvel Studios’ first post-Infinity War film, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Who is she playing, exactly? The folks at Variety describe it as a “key role” and given that Marvel has chosen to remain mum on the matter, that’s probably an accurate description. They do love playing things close to the chest, but that won’t stop the speculatin’!

The top of my wish-list is, of course, comic Avengers founder Janet van Dyne, mother to current Wasp, Evangeline Lilly’s Hope. That’s unlikely to be “key” per se, since she’s made one faceless appearance in flashback thus far – unless of course the film has a heavy focus on bringing her back from the quantum realm. You never know!

Other than that? Beats me. My knowledge of Ant-Man/Wasp baddies doesn’t run particularly deep (some version of the A.I. Jacosta, perhaps?), so all I can really say is it’ll be nice to get a lady villain in one of these. After Cate Blanchett’s Hela, of course. What do you folks think?

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens July 6th, 2018.
