Spider-Man famously failed to save Gwen Stacy in 1973, and she’s been destined to die ever since. That is of course until a one-off comic in 2014 where she was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker, resulting in her own spin-off series and then some. Thus was born Spider-Gwen (Spider-Woman to those who don’t know her true identity), a fun character with an even funner outfit, and one of the most popular new additions to the Spider-Fam.

Based on Phantom City Creative's gorgeous art print from 2015, this awesome statue features Spider-Gwen (aka Spider-Woman, aka Gwen Stacy) perched atop a high-rise building. The Mondo Exclusive version, available through Friday (6/23), comes with an additional interchangeable unmasked portrait of Gwen Stacy.
Tomorrow we're celebrating one of our favorite new heroes, Spider-Gwen!
Alongside a brand-new statue based on artwork by Phantom City Creative (full details coming), we'll have a beautiful new poster featuring the character by the great Rosemary Valero-O'Connell! Rosemary has quickly become one of our favorite artists to collaborate with and we are thrilled to have worked with her on a poster for one of Marvel's most exciting new heroes.
I love Spider-Gwen. I’ve got tons of signed Spider-Gwen stuff, and there may or may not be pictures of me in a Spider-Gwen mask and hoodie somewhere on the Internet. What I’m saying is, you should read Spider-Gwen if you haven't, and you best believe I’m going to jump on these posters and take care of them like they’re my children. Oh, and kudos to Valero-O'Connell on that The Mary Janes detail – that’s MJ’s band over on Earth-65. Watch out for their breakout single, “Face It Tiger.” (Actually, Married With Sea Monsters went ahead and made a real version of the song)
Spider-Gwen was folded into the main Marvel universe last year (she broke out so hard that Marvel went ahead and created a character called Gwenpool), and she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. She’s already a part of the Ultimate Spider-Man TV series, so don’t be surprised if she shows up in the movies at some point.
If you’re as excited about that inevitability as I am, then head on over to the Mondo website at noon CST and fork over some dollars. Just make sure you hurry, or I might scoop ’em all up before you get there.
