Spoiler alert: Jigsaw, the main Saw villain, has been dead for more than half the series. More than half. Then again, he started his stint as everyone’s favourite prankster by pretending to be dead, so it’s really no surprise. Now, Jigsaw’s going to be dead some more in the series’ eighth installment, arriving this fall.
Here’s the official title, in all its jiggly, saw-y glory:
This’ll be the first Saw movie in seven years, and in the grand tradition of American horror, it’s a sequel to an entry titled The Final Chapter. The plot, according to Bloody Disgusting, is as follows:
Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?
“But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade.” Buddy, that’s what I’ve been saying! I have to admit though, that synopsis confused me for a second. I couldn't figure out how this "John Kramer" guy figured into the plot until I googled Jigsaw's real name and realized that's him. For some reason I thought his name was Mike.
Get ready for more Rube Goldberg torture shenanigans when Jigsaw arrives October 27th.
