Evan Peters’ Peter Maximoff was arguably the best thing about X-Men: Days of Future Past, a movie that featured two of everyone else, so it’s no surprise he’s being brought back for his third franchise outing in 2018’s Dark Phoenix. Joining Peters is Canadian actor Lamar Johnson in a role being kept under wraps, though I’m sure it won’t be long before we find out what it is.
Johnson stars in the BAFTA-winning series The Next Step, and like any Canadian worth their Toonie, he also appeared in one of the eighteen Degrassi spin-offs, Degrassi: The Next Generation (also known as just Degrassi). He’s also set to appear in Mustang director Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s next film Kings alongside Daniel Craig, so keep an eye out!
Evan Peters probably needs no introduction if you’re reading this. His impulsive, annoying speedster Quicksilver adds a surprising amount of flavour to these otherwise period-non-specific period pieces with his t-shirts and song choices. Though while his “big scene” in X-Men: Apocalypse upped the comedic ante, it came at a very strange time in the film, bookended by Alex Summers dying on one end, and nuclear weapons being launched worldwide on the other. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again!
X-Men: Dark Phoenix arrives November 2nd 2018, helmed by first-time director and five-time X-Men producer Simon Kinberg.
P.S. Quicksilver is Magneto's son.
