The buzz around Flying Lotus' Kuso started building back during the Sundance Film Festival, when the film screened to a baffled, somewhat disgusted reaction from those in attendance. People said it was aggressively weird, intentionally repellent, an endurance test that had "instant cult hit" written all over it.
We have yet to see Kuso, but this newly-released trailer (intended to announce the film's July 21st arrival on Shudder) goes a long way towards making all that hype feel very real. This thing looks bananas.
Not even sure what to say about all that, other than that I'm very curious to see this movie. Here's a synopsis, courtesy The Playlist:
"Broadcasting through a makeshift network of discarded televisions, KUSO depicts the aftermath of Los Angeles’s worst earthquake nightmare. Viewers travel between screens and aftershocks into the twisted lives of the survived, experiencing a hallucination that is half-Cronenberg, half-Ren & Stimpy."
Never woulda guessed that from the trailer, but that only intrigues me all the more. How about you guys? Y'all gonna check this out when it hits Shudder on the 21st or are you thinking this won't be your cuppa tea? Sound off in the comments below.
