New Animated SPIDER-MAN Show Has A Cast And Trailer

You’ll never guess which famous uncle Patton Oswalt plays.

Truth be told, I lost track of Spider-Man’s animated output quite some time ago, but kids seemed to love Ultimate Spider-Man a.k.a. Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors a.k.a. Ultimate Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six when it was still on air. Now that the Brian Michael Bendis/Paul Dini series has finished its four-season run, Disney XD has made room for Marvel’s Spider-Man (or just Spider-Man, I suppose), a show produced by Marvel Television regulars like Alan Fine, Dan Buckley, Jeph Loeb and Joe Quesada.

Take it away, D23 trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man:

You probably have opinions on this show. That’s okay! That’s what we do here on the internet. I have opinions too (in what universe would Peter Parker wake up at 5:00am?), but this is a kids’ show at the end of the day, so more than anything, I’m excited for the target audience to be introduced to some characters I love from the comics.

You may not have seen them all in the trailer, but here’s the who’s who of this show’s roster and voice cast:

- Robbie Daymond as Peter Parker

- Nancy Linari as Aunt May

- Nadji Jeter as Miles Morales

- Laura Bailey as Gwen Stacy

- John DiMaggio as The Jackal

- Alastair Duncan as The Vulture

- Scott Menville as Dock Ock

- Max Mittelman as Harry Osborn

- Patton Oswalt as Uncle Ben

- Melanie Minichino as Anya Corazon

- Fred Tatasciore as Max Modell

- Joe Quesada as Joe

That’s a whole lot of villains and a whole lot of members of the Spider-Family! Peter and Miles are both Spider-Mans (Spider-Men?) at one point or another, and Anya Corazon becomes Araña (later Spider-Girl) in the comics. Given that this is a kids' show, we probably won’t see the gruesome death of Gwen Stacy, so you can probably expect Spider-Gwen (a.k.a… also Spider-Girl) to show up eventually.

Marvel's Spider-Man premieres on Disney XD on August 19th at 7:00am. Wake your kids up for it.
