The first poster for James Franco's The Disaster Artist (y'know, the movie based on the book about the making of Tommy Wiseau's The Room) just landed, apparently ahead of a teaser trailer premiere that'll be happening sometime tomorrow. It is fittingly baffling, most notably in its color scheme and font choices.
Look upon it now.
As you know, The Disaster Artist stars James Franco as Tommy Wiseau, the possibly-insane writer, director and star of 2003's The Room. Franco's brother, Dave, will be playing Greg Sesteros, the Room actor who co-authored the book on which The Disaster Artist is based.
Look, I'm well past the point of being amused by Wiseau or his antics (over a decade later, those "Oh, hai, Mark" jokes have lost quite a bit of their punch), but I'll admit to being very curious about Franco's film. Not only has the buzz been strong, but the assembled cast (which also includes Alison Brie, Lizzy Caplan, Seth Rogen, Bryan Cranston, Kristen Bell, Zac Efron, Sharon Stone (!!!) and Adam Scott) is flat-out incredible. You couldn't make me watch The Room again with a gun to my head, but I will be there day one to see what this team has done with the source material.
Anyway, first trailer arrives tomorrow. You folks as curious as I am, or think you'll be giving this one a pass? Sound off in the comments below.
