Here's a not-so-fun thing about working for a movie blog: there are very few surprises. If you spend your days combing through the Hollywood trades for news, trailers, industry gossip and the like, you tend to be painfully aware of everything that's on the horizon (and if you're spoilerphobic, hoo boy, you are gonna have a bad time). But every once in a while, something wholly unexpected will come along and catch you completely off-guard, and for a fleeting moment you're allowed to experience the joy of discovery you abandoned upon signing up to work in the blogger mines.
Such is the case with the trailer below, for a new movie called Automatic At Sea. Our friends over at The Playlist dropped the trailer just this morning, and it's the first time we're hearing of the movie. Added bonus? It looks very much like our jam.
Check this out.
That looks great, right? Automatic At Sea looks hallucinogenic, creepy, and strange, and the official plot synopsis is damn intriguing. Read this:
"On a whim, Eve (young Swedish traveler) accepts an invitation from Peter (American heir) to vacation on his family’s private island off the coast of New England. As a series of unexpected delays prevent other guests from arriving, Eve discovers that she has little in common with the increasingly phony and erratic Peter and that something is not quite right on this mysterious island. Gradually the idyllic natural beauty of her surroundings dissolves, and Eve finds herself trapped in an unstable reality punctuated by feverish visions, dimensional shifting and secret pizza."
Mysterious islands? "Dimensional shifting"? Secret pizza?! We have no idea what the hell is going on here, but we know that trailer is the business, and we're very curious to find out what Automatic At Sea is all about when hits VOD on November 14th.
How 'bout you folks? Think you'll give this one a shot? Sound off below.
