According to The Hollywood Reporter, Colossal director Nacho Vigalondo has lined up his next gig: writing and directing an adaptation of the Image comic book Comeback. He'll be joined by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, whose Skybound Entertainment will produce the film for Sony.
Unfamiliar with Comeback? Here's how THR's describing it:
"The comic, written by Ed Brisson, tells of two men, Seth and Mark, who are agents of Reconnect, a company that, for a hefty fee, will rescue a loved one just before they die by going back in time. It’s also an illegal venture that has come under the scrutiny of the FBI. When one mission goes south and Seth meets a future version of himself, the men find themselves on the run from both the FBI and their employers, who want to protect their dark secrets."
I've not read this particular title, but one look at that plot synopsis tells me this is a great pairing of director and material: not only has Vigalondo been moving into progressively bigger genre projects, but the time travel element will be something of a homecoming for the director, who put himself on the map with 2007's excellent Timecrimes (ed. note - I fucking love Timecrimes).
We're hyped to see what Vigalondo and Kirkman do with this material. How 'bout you folks? Sound off below.
