Last August, we learned that David Letterman was getting his very own Netflix series, and the Birth.Movies.Death. staff (as hardcore a crew of comedy nerds as you're ever likely to find) rejoiced: what would a new Letterman series even look like? What would the format be? Would there even be a live audience? So many questions, so precious few answers.
Today, we're thrilled to say we finally have some information to go on. According to The Hollywood Reporter, My Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman will be a monthly one-on-one interview series...and it'll be here even sooner than we expected.
"The 60-minute show will stream monthly with the first episode launching on Friday, Jan. 12 and the additional five episodes streaming, one a month, after that.
Letterman will kick off the series with a chat with Barack Obama, serving as the former president's first talk show appearance since leaving office. Other guests set for Letterman's series are George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey and Howard Stern."
Folks, productivity in the BMD offices has been utterly destroyed by this reveal. David Letterman conducting hour-long interviews with people like Obama, Tina Fey and Jay-Z? A new one every month? And it'll be here next Friday? Jesus Crispies. It's been a helluva week, but this news just made all the bullshit worthwhile. We could not be more hyped about this.
Look, there's even a trailer!
My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman hits Netflix next Friday. Y'all as hyped about it as we are? Sound off in the comments below, and don't be shy about sharing your favorite Letterman moments in YouTube video form, should you be moved to do so.
