There's a release date switcheroo going on over at 20th Century Fox, and we're all just along for the ride. According to The Hollywood Reporter, three of Fox's X-Men spin-off movies have just been given shiny new release dates. Let's go through 'em one at a time.
For starters, Fox's as-yet-untitled Deadpool sequel will land two weeks earlier than expected, on May 18th. This is great news for fans of Deadpool, bad news for Slender Man, which is opening on the same day. Good luck with all that, Slender Man.
Secondly, Josh Boone's highly-anticipated X-horror film, New Mutants, is getting pushed back. Waaay back. Like, ten months back, all the way to February 22nd, 2019. According to THR:
"...Insiders say one reason for the change is for the studio not to have an overlap with X-Men movies in certain overseas marketplace, where Mutants and Deadpool 2 would have been in theaters at the same time."
And, finally, more news on Gambit: the film, which we learned this morning has no director, has been pushed back to June 7th, 2019. You can decide whether or not you think that one's ever gonna happen; New Mutants and Deadpool 2 are sure things.
Stay tuned for more on 20th Century Fox's X-franchise as further updates become available.
