Latest Trailer For YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE Will Save Your Life

Joaquin Phoenix gets his hyper-empathetic TAXI DRIVER.

I'm just going to come right out and say it: You Were Never Really Here is tremendous; a stark meditation on empathy and the need to rescue others from the clutches of evil men. Joaquin Phoenix is damn near perfect as the melancholy underworld operative, raiding shady sex dens with nothing more than a hammer in his hand. Writer/director Lynne Ramsay (We Need To Talk About Kevin) has crafted something really special here; a crime film about the soulful damage violence does to the individuals who wield it, and I can't wait for the rest of you to see it.

Now, there's a new UK trailer for the picture, which sells us on Joaquin's mysterious enforcer. Take a look:

Oh, did I mention that Ramsay's movie contains what's possibly Jonny Greenwood's best score to date? It's a mix of electro drone and jangly Radiohead guitar that's strange and ominous, a total scorcher.

You Were Never Really Here hits Sundance next week, and US theaters April 6th. Mark your calendars accordingly.
