Way back in the quaint and hopeful year of 2015, Marvel followed up their gigantic and complicated Avengers: Age of Ultron with a much smaller, character-driven charmer in the form of Ant-Man. It’s a model that worked for them well back then, and they’re going for it again this year by following up the thrilling but heavy Infinity War with Ant-Man and the Wasp, which just dropped a new - and much better - trailer. Check it out:
Even the lame threat of a villain who can phase through walls feels sort of comfortable compared to Thanos. There’s a lot to love here. From the cast reunion in general to the ramping up of fun size-shenanigans, it’s going to feel good to wash away our Infinity War sadness with this lighthearted romp (that almost certainly will end with a dose of Infinity War sadness to tease whatever Avengers 4 is called).
There is also an ant playing an electronic drum kit. Marvel, I love you and am here for this all the way.
Ant-Man and the Wasp opens July 6. For maximum fun, double feature it with The First Purge!
