Welcome to Badass Digest

Springing from the movie-loving culture of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, Badass Digest is putting the fun back in being a nerd. We know that people who love movies also love travel, good beer, tasty food, cool clothes and keeping up with the weirdest, craziest corners of pop culture. From cult classics to new blockbusters, from the latest TV shows to this week’s comic books, from the BBQ to the brew pub, Badass Digest is there finding the best and most interesting for the badass generation.

What is a badass? A badass is someone who is unique, uncompromising and dedicated to following their vision. A badass is someone blazing their own path, someone setting the standard. Fashion and fads come and go but badass is forever.

For those of you who have been following me for a few years at CHUD.com, yes, this is my new home. And home is the right word - from the first time I visited the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (the original location!) I knew I had found a place I belonged. Having the opportunity to work with Tim League and the amazing crew he has assembled is a dream come true. I’m surrounded by smart, passionate and most of all fun people who love movies and get things done.

There are big plans afoot for Badass Digest. What you see here now is just the tip of the iceberg. We’re going to be expanding our coverage of food and booze in the coming days and weeks, and the rest of the Badass Team - Roger Erik Tinch and Moises Chiullan, with guest appearances from many Alamo personalities - will be unleashing an unholy number of columns and features. We’ve already started our Badass Hall of Fame (inaugural member none other than Warren Oates) and will have more regular columns debuting throughout the week. And for those who know me from my days at CHUD, keep an eye open for the blazing return of Star Trekkin’, picking up right where I left off.
