The three-course eye candy meal named Scarlett Johansson hosted Saturday Night Live for her third time which turned out to be a mixed, but ultimately satisfying installment. I always wondered if totally separate writing teams attack each week since there tends to be distinct differences in tone from episode to episode. This one in particular had a particular zaniness to it that I appreciated. Here’s my picks for best of the episode:
Jay Pharoah continues to milk his pitch perfect Denzel Washington impersonation in a parody of a trailer for a film that’s a parody of action films.
Hollywood Dish with Scarlett Johansson
Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader—the next in line for the Will Ferrell/Cheri Oteri throne—deliver another parody of entertainment news without hardly saying a word. I wonder if they had to flip a coin for who would get the spit take?
Middle School Kids
I don’t care what anyway says, Kenan Thompson is an SNL all-star and his ridiculous performance in this sketch makes it my favorite of the episode.
Weekend Update: George W. Bush and Kanye West
I could see this awkward duo turning into a regular sketch. Worth it just to see Jay Pharaoh deliver yet another impeccable impression as Yeezy.
16 and Pregnant Spinoffs
Sadly, I could actually see this happening. Even sadder, I would probably watch it.
