Sci-Fi Movie Displays Come to Life

Ever wanted to interact with the Millennium Falcon gunport display or adjust the settings on the Sentry Gun from Aliens? Well, thanks to Michael Rush you now can on your own computer with what he calls “Software Props” which takes ‘a specific computer or console as seen in a science-fiction film and simulates the workings of that screen in a Flash program.’ Here’s the Falcon gunport display in all its Pong-like glory:

There’s only four currently on the site, but they’re definitely some of the most iconic and Rush says he’s working on the Aliens motion tracker (YES!) and the Battlestar Galactica Viper screen. And, as I can attest to, if you have kids they’re great for keeping them distracted while developing their sci-fi loving skills.

Files are supplied in three formats: SWF, which should run in most browsers; EXE, which is a standalone program for PC; and HQX, which will extract to a standalone Mac file. Check ‘em all out here.
