[caption id=“attachment_3408” align=“aligncenter” width=“568” caption=“This is some sort of sensor located near the hot spring by Crystal Spring. The antenna is a bit hard to see, but it is pointing upwards for satellite communications. It is circularly polarized, i.e. the antenna looks like a series of Xs on a rod.”]

[caption id=“attachment_3409” align=“aligncenter” width=“568” caption=“January 2010 photograph. Note the black road surface. It is more of a sealed surface than real pavement since they didn\‘t put down a layer of stone. Yes, that is some sort of ground fog.”]

[caption id=“attachment_3410” align=“aligncenter” width=“568” caption=“On the hill towards your left while facing the signs will be the EG&G security, AKA the camo dudes. This telescope photo was shot in Jan 2001, which explains the snow on the ground. Note how the camo dude blocks his face just to make sure I don\‘t get a good shot. That looks like a coffee auto mug clipped to the window, perhaps so that the coffee does not steam the window.”]

[caption id=“attachment_3413” align=“aligncenter” width=“568” caption=“I spotted this white truck with government plates in Tonopah at the grocery store near the Station House hotel. If you stay there, be sure to say your are there on air force business to get a discount. As luck would have it, my room overlooked where the truck was parked, so I did a stake out to catch a camo dude getting his groceries. Well, I don\‘t think the woman in this photo is a camo dudette. And why get a cart for such a small load? The license plates always say Official Use Only. Go figure.”]
