CODEHUNTERS, Short Film by the Director of the DEATHLY HALLOWS Animated Sequence
One pleasant surprise in HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, PART 1 is the beautifully animated sequence that accompanies Hermione’s reading of the story of the Hallows. The director of that short-film-within-a-film, Ben Hibon, has done other great work including this 2006 short produced for MTV Asia.
One of note is Codehunters, a six-and-a-half-minute animated short produced for MTV Asia back in 2006. I remember seeing this at the time and crossing my fingers that something more would come of this other then a slick looking commercial. And it looks like that something has, but not in the direct manner I hoped. Hopefully in the next few years Hibon will be given the opportunity to turn this into a proper full-length feature (and let’s also hope that Tim Burton doesn’t hijack the marquee).
