Comedy Central Gets New Unfunny Logo

Whereas most companies are going kitsch and cute with their logo redesigns, Comedy Central has totally reinvented their brand with a clean yet immediately bold logo and style aesthetic.

Whereas most companies are going kitsch and cute with their logo redesigns (see Jack in the Box), Comedy Central has totally reinvented their brand with a clean yet immediately bold logo and style. More Adult Swim and less Cuddly Metropolis. I kinda dig it. Here’s their “official”-ish statement:

We should explain… Our logo has changed. No longer do you see the big buildings and globe, that quite literally said, COMEDY CENTRAL on top of it. Please welcome the new mark. We affectionately call it the COMEDYMARK. It works WAY F*CKING better then that other one we had. Big building-y globe, you served us well, but we moved on.

Now, before you initiate another Gap Logo Revolt, see Comedy Central’s video introduction below on the new identity that’s set to start in January. It provides a great feel for the breadth and adaptability this new branding will have. I think Paul Rand would be proud.
