RED STATE: The Reactions
Kevin Smith’s new film, Red State, debuted at Sundance tonight in a carnival-esque atmosphere. The screening just ended as I’m writing this, and reactions are coming in on Twitter. The audience seems to be divided, and the dividing line seems to be exactly what I expected. Kevin Smith fans and younger critics seem to dig, everybody else… not as much. I think a plenty of people will give Smith for trying, which is nice, I guess. In a Special Olympics way. I’m interested to read reviews from people who really liked the film, not those giving a pass or even those who didn’t like.
Here are some early reactions:

Very mixed bag. No consensus yet; I’m waiting to hear from some of the old guard and some of the neutral folks.
