Are You Ready For HULA HOOP: THE MOTION PICTURE?
Agency ICM has just signed a new clint: Wham-O Toys. You probably know Wham-O from such toys as Hula Hoop, Slip n’ Slide, the Frisbee and more. And now ICM is going to help Wham-O get its products represented in film and television, with an eye towards making movies out of these toys.
Before you get up in arms, try to imagine the ways that you could make interesting movies about these toys. Hula Hoop: The Movie could be a period coming of age piece about a girl taking part in a Hula Hoop marathon (they had them). Frisbee could be the new PCU, a comedy about an Ultimate Frisbee team. Slip n’ Slide… well, I don’t know.
But of course what we’ll get is a Hula Hoop movie about a magic Hula Hoop, a Frisbee movie about a magic Frisbee, and probably no Slip n’ Slide movie.
UPDATE: Shame on me, @mattsinger correctly mentions that the Coen Brothers already made Hula Hoop: The Movie.
