You Got Your AVATAR In My JURASSIC PARK! Let’s Call It TERRA NOVA!

The new dinosaur scifi show from Steven Spielberg has some familiar elements, and a logically shaky premise.

Maybe it’s unfair to compare Fox’s expensive new scifi show Terra Nova to Avatar, but when you have Steven Lang essentially playing a bearded version of his character from the James Cameron film it’s hard not to be reminded.

And I think Fox wants you to be reminded. As they want you to be reminded of Jurassic Park. This show, as we are told in the exposition in the commercial that I really hope is not in the actual program, is about people fleeing the environmentally destroyed Earth of the future to live in… the dinosaur days. I don’t know how wise of a choice that is, or how temporally sound that is.

Seriously, the whole premise just feels like it makes no sense. We know that this colony doesn’t make it because it’s millions of years later and they’re not still around!

I’m all for well-made, large budget scifi on TV, but this just reeks of barely making a season.
