Shocking News: Most Young Actors In Hollywood Up For THE BOURNE LEGACY

A list of possible replacements for Matt Damon shows how weak the action hero bench is these days.

Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer, Taylor Kitsch, Benjamin Walker.

That’s a schizophrenic list. Michael Fassbender and Paul Dano up for the same role? Wha? And Michael Pitt? Really?

If there’s a more glaring illustration of our lack of action heroes in Hollywood, I’d be afraid to see it. This list has some interesting names - Joel Edgerton? Sure. Fassbender? He’s up for every movie ever now, and there’s no way that Prometheus gives him time for this, but sure. - but Paul Dano? Alex Pettyfer? Garrett Fucking Hedlund?

I think what this really tells us is that the studio and Gilroy both have their visions of who the new Bourne character is*. I bet Gilroy wants the good ones and the studio wants the pretty ones.

*You’ll recall that The Bourne Legacy introduces a new character, leaving the door open for Matt Damon to return if he would like.
