YOU’RE NEXT, Say The Filmmakers Behind A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE

Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett are the maniacs who brought you A Horrible Way To Die, a truly brutal film that played both the Toronto International Film Festival and Fantastic Fest last year. They’ve reteamed for a new horror film that, on the surface looks like a home invasion movie but that I bet will be an incredibly interesting take on the material.

The film started production today, and they’ve finally locked their lead - going from Step Up 3D to brutal violence (or is it from brutal violence to You’re Next) is Sharni Vinson.

I don’t know much more about the film than what I have read in the press release below; Wingard has brought back many of the people from A Horrible Way To Die, and I think he and Barrett make a great team. More than that, this movie has a fucking awesome title.

Snoot Entertainment announced today that it has cast Sharni Vinson to star in the home invasion thriller YOU’RE NEXT.  Directed by Adam Wingard from a screenplay by Simon Barrett, the film will be produced by Snoot’s Keith Calder and Jessica Wu along with Barrett.  Wingard and Barrett most recently teamed on A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE which premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival, and will be released by Anchor Bay.  Principal photography on YOU’RE NEXT commences today in Missouri.

London’s HanWay Films is handling international sales, after a successful introduction of the project at this year’s Berlin Film Festival.

In YOU’RE NEXT the Davison family comes under attack from a terrifying group of sadistic murderers during a family reunion getaway.  Barricaded in their secluded vacation home, they fight off a barrage of axes, crossbows and machetes from both inside and outside the house. However, the masked killers didn’t count on Erin, the young girlfriend of the eldest Davison son whose mysterious past has made her very difficult to kill.

Vinson has previously starred in STEP UP 3D.
