Director Of CARS Tie-In Short To Direct MONSTERS, INC. Prequel
Is Pixar setting up a MONSTERS, INC. spin off franchise?
Two bits of news about Pixar’s new wave of endless sequels: Monsters, Inc. II is actually a prequel (which was suspected previously) and will be called Monster University. And it’s being directed by Dan Scanlon, a Pixar story artist and director of the Cars short Mater and the Ghostlight.
It’s interesting that Monster University is the title, not Monsters, Inc. II or something similar. I suspect that Pixar is going to find a way to spin off a separate franchise from this; I could see a TV show set at Monster U, featuring the secondary, non-Billy Crystal and John Goodman characters. What do you think?
