ZORRO 2099
I have this rule where I only write about film news if it’s a) really important or interesting or b) something that I’m personally jazzed about. But I guess I have to make a c) clause as well - when I can write a headline I really like about it.
Fox is developing a new Zorro movie, but it’s not just another adventure of the masked avenger. No, this time it’s going to be… post apocalyptic! I bring you: Zorro Reborn. Really.
In this version, Zorro will be less a caped crusader for justice than a one-man vigilante force bent on revenge, in a western story that has echoes of both Sergio Leone and “No Country for Old Men.”
What’s especially intriguing is that the director on this one would be Rpin Suwannath, “a previsualization specialist.” That seems like a big leap to feature director for me, but I’m sure Fox knows what they’re doing with this one.
What do you think? Zorro of the Wasteland? Battling Lord Humongous? Helping Eli schlep his book?
