Kathryn Bigelow Could Be The First To Kill Bin Laden On Film

Bigelow’s upcoming hunt for bin Laden film just found its ending.

The Hurt Locker filmmakers Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal have been planning to reteam this summer for an untitled movie about the hunt for Osama bin Laden. And then Sunday happened… which turns out to be the best thing possible for them.

Apparently Mark Boal’s script is actually about one of the groups (SEAL Team Six?) who got the terrorist mastermind. He’s been following the op for some time, and will now use the killing of bin Laden as the ending for the film. And apparently the timing is perfect, giving Boal enough time to write the new ending without delaying the shoot this summer.

This will probably make Bigelow’s film the first (non-cheapie cash-in) to fully dramatize the death of bin Laden. Her follow-up to The Hurt Locker was already anticipated, but this should make it one of the movie events of next year.
