EXPENDABLES 2 Official Synopsis Gives Away A Death

Which relic of the 80s will finally die? In the movie, I mean. They’re all going to die in real life in the next ten to fifteen years.

Has everybody come around on The Expendables yet? Has everybody realized that it’s a tediously bad movie that can’t be saved by a ‘Destroy All Monsters’ level of lunkhead action star team-up? Probably not! So that means you’re all probably excited about The Expendables 2.

Well, Nu-Image is in Cannes and they’re pimping the sequel, which is still without a director or confirmed cast. But they have a new story, and it starts with the death of an Expendable (finally - how can you have a movie called The Expendables and resurrect the only guy you killed?):

The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They’re not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and the Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity.

As Slashfilm’s Russ Fischer notes, saving humanity is a big rise in the stakes from the first one, when everyone had to sleepily collect a paycheck.
