Robert Forster Easily Upstages George Clooney In THE DESCENDENTS Trailer
Alexander Payne’s first film in seven years has a mopey Clooney and a badass Forster.
The great Robert Forster shows up in this trailer for about two seconds, and he steals the whole thing.
The Descendants is Alexander Payne’s first theatrical film since 2004, and I think if it weren’t his movie this trailer would make me very nervous. I’m willing to give Payne the benefit of the doubt, though - even About Schmidt, which should have been terrible and middlebrow, was pretty damn good. So while this trailer is selling ‘generic quirky indie family movie #10,’ I expect the real film will be quite different.
