RIDDICK Shoots This Summer

And it will break Vin Diesel’s bank account… and possibly his very soul.

It’s all happening, as they say. Riddick, the sequel to Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, will actually shoot this summer, says star Vin Diesel. But don’t think this is easy. Oh no. Vin is sacrificing for you. He’s taking scale to make this movie. As far as I can tell, scale for a feature film production is $

655 a day

. Make that $825 a day by July; thanks to the commenters who corrected.

Vin explains more on his Facebook page:

D T [David Twohy] the writer/director just landed in New York with the good news. We can start filming this summer. However, there is a catch… in order for us to make a true R rated film, I must work for scale upfront. Not unlike the “Find me Guilty” experience (which I wouldn’t have changed for the world)...

Money is always second to art, integrity and spirit… but the real issue is deeper. Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place… called Riddick.

Now, I need to hear from Our collective… you.

The best part of that - easily! - is “Can I suspend my life, to momentarily venture to that dark place… called Riddick.” He’s taking this SO SERIOUSLY.
