Jamie Foxx Will Be Django For Quentin Tarantino

Looks like it’s all over but the negotiatin’ - Jamie Foxx will be playing Django in Django Unchained for director Quentin Tarantino. QT had wanted Will Smith but the rough nature of the script probably scared the movie star away, as well as the prospect of working for a guy who wouldn’t let him rewrite the entire thing to fit his lazy needs.

Deadline is reporting that Foxx has become QT’s choice and they’ve moved into formal negotiations. It’s an interesting cast around Foxx; Christoph Waltz will play a German bounty hunter who helps the escaped slave seek vengeance on Leonardo DiCaprio, an evil guy who has Django’s wife as a slave at his depraved sex club. Samuel L Jackson will be DiCaprio’s ‘valet,’ but I think people just don’t want to write ‘tough house nigger.’

I actually haven’t read Django Unchained! I know most of you probably have; I read the first few pages to get some information and have paged through it, but have resisted a full read.
