Is This Why Marvel Isn’t Doing Hall H At Comic Con?

Are Marvel and Disney saving their big presentations for their own fan convention?

There’s been a lot of talk lately about a scaled-down studio presence in Hall H at Comic Con this year, and there have been lots of speculation about what’s going on. I think much of it is premature - I think studios are simply adjusting how they do Comic Con in order to better get their signal through the weekend’s incredible noise - but I suspect that Marvel sitting out of Hall H actually has a strategic reason. And that reason is D23 Expo.

That’s the official Disney fan convention, and it’s August 19-21 in Anaheim. I imagine that right around Comic Con Disney will announce a major The Avengers and John Carter presence there. I think Disney is going to try and compete with Comic Con.
