For Sale: The 1939 Pontiac Ghost Car
In 1939 Pontiac created this one of a kind, transparent car for the World’s Fair. Using the chassis of a 1939 Pontiac Deluxe Six, GM created their vision of the future using the then-new material Plexiglass. The Ghost Car was displayed at the Futurama exhibit, which promised glimpses into the far future of 1960.
The Ghost Car went on display at the Smithsonian until 1947, when it entered private hands (any connection to the Roswell crash? HMMMM???). It’s been with the same owners since the 80s, but is now up for auction. This one of a kind automobile can be yours for an estimated $500,000. The auction happens July 30th.
