Ron Howard won’t be coming back for the third Dan Brown movie about Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks’ bad haircuts), The Lost Symbol. He’s just as sick of this series as we are.
“He just didn’t want to do that thing over and over, the same character and the same stories,” an unnamed insider tells Deadline Hollywood.
That comes on the heels of Universal kicking The Dark Tower to the curb AND Sony passing over Howard for A Captain’s Duty, a true life Somali pirate drama that will star Hanks. They’re in talks with Paul Greengrass. So where does this leave Howard? As Deadline points out, the Dan Brown movies have been what have kept the director in the big leagues the last few years, and while The Lost Symbol will probably be panfried pigshit, it’ll open.
I just want to see how Hanks styles his hair this time…
