Fantasia Film Festival Names Winners, Including Joseph Kahn’s DETENTION

ATTACK THE BLOCK, DETENTION, BULLHEAD and more win awards at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival!

It seems like forever ago that I was in Montreal for the Fantasia Film Festival, and that’s because it sort of was - the festival began a whopping three and a half weeks ago and only just came to an end. WOW. And they do this every year.

With the end of the festival comes the announcement of award winners, and I’m sort of psyched that so many films I liked and saw won awards. Some of the films still have to reviewed here on BAD - I’m thinking very specifically of The Unjust and Milocroze: A Love Story - but some of the other winners will be familiar to you guys, including Attack the Block and Joseph Khan’s Detention.

Here’s a rundown of the winners:

President: Alexandre Franchi, with Gilles Esposito, Lee Joon-ik, George Mihalka, Steven Schneider and Tom Vick
